2014 FLL season is upon us along with a few 2013 upcoming demo opportunities.


First off, a very big congratulations to the 4 NorCal FLL teams on being great representatives at the 2013-2014 season FLL World Festival in St. Louis, held concurrently with the FTC and FRC Championships.    Team M from San Mateo won a 1st place Robot Design-Programming award and Phoenix Fury from Folsom won 3rd place Core Values-Inspiration and their mentor won Outstanding Youth Mentor - Akshay Rathish.  Way to Go!   JrFLL Award List    FLL Award List    FTC Award List    FRC Award List

1. May 5:  2014 FLL Team Registration opens this Monday, 5/5.  New Registration System and more importantly, new processes!  FLL Team numbers are also permanent starting this season.  Info send out in April from FIRST HQ  


2. May 17&18 Bay Area Maker Faire demos!   We are coordinating FLL demos/exhibit.  Learn more 


3. May 31 afternoon: Garage Sale (all FIRST programs including FLL kits) - PLUS  FIRST-oriented craft fair.  Learn more


4. June 1st morning:  Seeking a FLL team to demo their robot and answer questions about their project at Jr FLL Expo in San Jose between 9:45am to ~12:15pm.  Email me if you are able to do this.


5. June 1st afternoon:  Second Annual FLL Project Symposium - share your team's winning project. Learn more


6. June 8:  Open House at The Play Space -   Highlights will include having every single FLL Challenge set up for viewing.  We have every year starting from Volcanic Panic in 2000 to 2013's Nature's Fury.   RSVP please


7.  June 21:  Want to help Playing At Learning be more effective and plan for the next 1k teams?   Join us for a brainstorming/strategy meeting in San Jose on Saturday 6/21 starting at 5pm.  RSVP please.


8. Thursday, June 26: Looking for 1 or 2 FLL teams to demo at INTEL Santa Clara on 6/26 10-2. Preference to a team that has a connection to an Intel employee.  Email me if you are able to do this.


9. Weekly FLL-oriented Youth Summer Camps at The Play Space in San Jose starting 6/24


10.  Mark your calendars:  June 28 10-4:  Introduction to FLL Coaching & LEGO Mindstorms Overview. Sign up link coming soon on www.norcalfll.org site


11. The review and mailing of the remaining 2013 season Championship Rubric sheets is almost done - will finish and get all mailed out soon.  I  haven't forgotten.  [see item #7 above]
