Coaches :

Seven items for you this week:  Updated district definitions, Deadline for Tournament Prereqs, Participation Rules, Coaching 3+ Teams,  Teams not participating,  Scrimmages and Game/Project updates.

1)  2014 District definitions updated:  Biggest change - East Bay district has been mostly subsumed by Capital district as there is not enough QTs to host even a smaller EB championship.  There were a few other changes as well.

2)
Tournament Registration Process and PreReqs10/1  DEADLINE to complete all prerequisites to enter the "first round" of tournament registration which will give you the most choice of locations/dates to pick from.  Alot of team have not uploaded their Team Roster. This is required (and the form was updated to make it more obvious).

3) IMPORTANT FLL Tournament Participation Rule to pay attention to:  If you are coaching more than 1 team,  each team must have 2 separate "supervising adults".    These supervising adults must attend the tournament but have no other responsibility except for being responsible for the safety and supervision of that 1 team.  The supervising adults do not have be the listed coach(es) but they do need signed waivers (can be turned in at the QT that you attend).

4) If you are coaching 3 or more teams and they must all attend the same tournament due to school related  (or organization) restrictions,  you must complete the prerequisites by October 1st AND notify me (via email) no later than October 2nd that they must compete at the same tournament.  If you do not do this, there is no way to guarantee that there will be space at any one tournament for all of the teams.  The teams must be all affiliated with 1 school or youth organization and there must be a defined reason (for example, the tournament is a school-sanctioned field trip).

5) Is your team NOT going to use their registration and/or field setup kit?    If your team has dissolved, or otherwise is not going to use their FLL Team registration this year, please let me know.  Please specify if you are willing to transfer or sell your FLL team registration and/or if you have a field setup kit or not  (and if so, has it been built/used or still in box?)   There are several very late forming teams that would really like to get registered for this season but registration closed earlier than they could get everything together.

6) It is starting to be FLL Scrimmage season!      We highly recommend participating in a scrimmage  (why?).  Unfortunately, there is always a greater demand than existing opportunities.  If you are hosting a scrimmage,  please post on the social.norcalfll.org/events page.   There is one posted already!   If you are willing to coordinate a scrimmage at The Play Space in San Jose - we can likely have it available on 1 or more these dates:  10/12,10/25, or 11/1. Let me know.    How to host a scrimmage

7) Did you see the 9/26 Challenge Game/Project Update!

Final note -  Hope to see you at the off-season FIRST Robotics Competition - CalGames at Woodside HS on Friday 10/3 or Saturday 10/4.

Regards,
     Jill
