Arrest - Forgery, Possession of CDS

On 8/25/19 at 9:44p.m., Newton Police Department received a report of a male subject attempting to pass counterfeit money at the 7-Eleven on Water Street in an attempt to buy cigarettes but had since left the immediate area. 


Subsequently, patrols located the subject in the area of the intersection of Spring Street and Moran Streets and identified him as Stacy Spencer, age 55, of Liberty Street, Newton.  Investigation revealed that Spencer was in possession of fraudulent U.S. currency along with 3 Xanax pills which were not prescribed to him.  


As a result, Spencer was charged with the following:

N.J.S. 2C:21-1(3)a     Forgery  (Third Degree)

N.J.S. 35-10A(1)        Possession of C.D.S. (Xanax) (Third Degree)

 

He was processed and released pending a future court appearance in Sussex County Superior Court.
