Arrest - Possession of CDS (Marijuana), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

On 6/8/18 at 4:30 pm, Ptl. John Flanagan was patrolling the Newton Cemetery when he located a parked vehicle that was suspicious because of its location.  As he approached the vehicle, the passenger, identified as Jeffrey T. Schermerhorn, age 27, of Decker Road, Andover, NJ was standing next to the vehicle when he suddenly threw something into the nearby woods.   

 

Subsequent investigation resulted in Schermerhorn admitting that he threw a glass smoking pipe with marijuana inside of it.

 

As a result, Schermerhorn was taken into custody.  Additionally, a warrant out of Mt. Olive Municipal Court was also located for him.  

 

Schermerhorn was processed and released after being charged with the following:

N.J.S. 2C:35-10a(4) Possession of CDS (under 50 grams of marijuana)  (Disorderly Persons)

N.J.S. 2C:36-2         Possession of Drug Paraphernalia  (Disorderly Persons)

 

Schermerhorn has a mandatory court appearance in Newton Municipal Court on 06/26/2018 at 9:00 am.
