On 10/15/18 at 8:46a.m., Newton Police responded to the intersection of Mill Street (C.R. 519) and Water Street (S.H. 206) in order to investigate a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle.
Upon arrival, it was determined that Francis Jennings, age 62, of Sparrow Bush, New York was operating a 2003 Hummer eastbound on Mill Street and had stopped at the red traffic signal at the intersection of Water Street. Subsequently, Jennings failed to observe a pedestrian identified as Isabel Chub, age 35, of Water Street to be crossing Mill Street in a northbound direction within a marked crosswalk. As a result, Jennings struck her and she suffered a complaint of pain to her left leg and right buttocks region but refused medical treatment.
Jennings was issued summonses for the following offenses:
39:4-36 Failure to Yield to a Pedestrian in a Marked Crosswalk.
39:4-97 Careless Driving
