On 12/29/17 at 11:07a.m., Ptl. Mahir Kaylani was present at 33 Mill Street conducting an unrelated investigation when he observed a male known to him to be Matthew Delgado, age 26, of Newton who reportedly may have an existing warrant for his arrest.
A subsequent check revealed that a warrant existed for Delgado for a parole violation. Upon officers confirming that the warrant was valid via state parole, Delgado fled on foot and refused to stop. Shortly thereafter, Delgado was apprehended in the rear of 75 Mill Street by Sussex County Sheriff Officer Mark Peer assisted by Ptl. Kaylani and Ptl. Scott Vertetis. A search incident to arrest resulted in a bag of marijuana in his possession and rolling papers.
As a result, Matthew Delgado was charged with the following offenses:
N.J.S. 2C:35-10(4) Possession of Marijuana (less than 50 grams) Disorderly Persons
N.J.S. 2C:36-2 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia Disorderly Persons
N.J.S. 2C:29-1a Obstruction Disorderly Persons
N.J.S. 2C:29-2a(2) Resisting Arrest 4th Degree
Delgado was then processed and lodged in the Sussex County Jail pending court.
