On 12/28/17 at about 2:02p.m., the Newton Police received a 9-1-1 report of a motor vehicle accident involving a vehicle into a telephone pole in the area of 83 Woodside Avenue.
Subsequent investigation revealed that the driver, Felix Morales, age 26, of Sparta Avenue, Newton was heading northbound on Woodside Avenue when his 2003 Silver Jeep Grand Cherokee left the roadway for an unknown reason, striking a traffic sign and a telephone pole before becoming disabled on the right shoulder.
Morales was charged with the following offenses:
30:4-97 Careless Driving
39:3-40 Registration suspended
39:3-10 Unlicensed Driver
39:6B-2 Uninsured Motorist
As a result of the accident, Woodside Avenue was closed for several hours while the damaged pole was replaced by Century Link.
Newton Fire Department and Newton First Aid Squad responded to the scene. However, Morales refused medical treatment.
