On 9/22/17 at 1:22p.m., Newton Police responded to the intersection of Trinity and Moran Street for a report of a pedestrian who was struck by a motorist.

Upon arrival, it was determined that Juan Cespedes-Duque, age 24, of Dover, NJ was operating a 2007 Acura and was turning left from Moran Street onto Trinity Street (Eastbound) when he failed to observe pedestrian Omar Panciso, age 35, of Newton in the crosswalk and struck him.

As a result, Panciso complained of pain to his left hand and was transported to Newton Medical Center by the Newton First Aid Squad.

Cespedes-Duque was issued for careless driving and failing to yield to a pedestrian in the crosswalk.
