Hi all-

Does anyone have experience with the IN-36 "nixie" tube that looks
like two bar horizontal bar graphs? I was only able to find the
Russian datasheet which I have been getting help translating from a
friend. It's a bit challenging though since she doesn't have a
scientific background. I was able to determine the basic dual anode,
and multiple cathode pin outs, but it looks like there may be a third
anode also.

I am trying to figure out how to actually drive these things, and how
current/voltage translates into a certain height lit up on the graph.
I was wondering if anyone has any experience with these things. I'd
like to ultimately use it as a stereo level indicator for an MP3
player or something like that.

I can provide a link to the original datasheet and my friend's first
cut at a translation if anyone needs it.

Thanks,
Dylan

There isnt much about these, but defienetely be sure to check out this: http://www.elektroncso.hu/cikkek/selfscan.php and there is also some info here on the bottom of the page: http://www.circuitsonline.net/forum/view/71048

Hi,

You can ask member SLvik78 on YouTube, or SLvik at Radiokot.ru as his alias is there, for help. He has put this video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAfQdjo5nz8&list=UUOZnMPgKT7ZjtkSrIC3kfxQ&index=50 and written this at Radiokot.ru: http://radiokot.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?p=257909 (scroll down a bit). If you google soem you'll also find his repository of files (I don't have it right now) where you'll find his schematic, layout and compiled software for the small processor he uses to drive the IN-33, IN-34 & IN-36

Using Google Translate nowadays is very good (at least compared to my non existing knowledge in any languages except Swedish and English) so I regularely use it for Russian, Japanese and French. There is even a nice Kyrillic keyboard which you can write the Russian words with so you can translate datasheets. Otherwise Abbyy FineReader is an excellent tool to use for OCR reading, I've used it for several years and recently bought the latest version on eBay (original software for less than half the price).
