Hi there,
i just got few ZM1040 tubes that have never been used, the thing is that they were laying around for id say 20 years without box or anything and now they are really dusted. The thing is that they still have good coating under the dust, wich is pretty rare on tesla tubes, since tesla had the least resistant red coating (based on what i saw) Thats why id liketo ask you is you have any experience with cleaning the tubes. Im worried that if i try to clean them with wet cloth, the coating would wash away too. Any suggestions on what should i do, please?

The coating should be removable in hot water, but not by cleaning gently
with a damp cloth.

If the coating is delicate enough that it can be removed by rubbing
gently with a damp cloth, then it is too delicate to survive everyday
use. In that case, make the tubes clear and be done with it.
