Dear colleagues,

Are you happy with your search for and managing protocols?

Please allow me to share some useful information related to this subject, I believe it could be useful for many undergrads and graduate students.

There is a number of large web-resources that provide us with protocols, some for free.

Nature protocols: some protocols (probably from sponsored papers) are available for free.

Springer protocols website has Free protocols section.

Cold Spring Harbor Protocols website also provides free protocols.

Protocol Online: be advised, actual protocols go after, below the ads of famous manufacturers.

JoVE: nice to watch videos of protocols, unfortunately the journal asks payment for article.

Invitrogen (now it is a part of Thermofisher) provides indispensable resources on cell biology techniques (skip ads on the top of page, go down) Life Science Network website provides high-quality full-text "external" protocols for free.

Just recently I found and tested SCIGINE which is located at http://www.scigine.com/ Authors call it "a scientific methods search engine". You may use its search bar and browse button to find biology and biochemistry methods. After this you can take notes while browsing and create your own method by combining what you find. After you save your own method, you can access it on your phone/tablet and test it. Looks like, it is only a open-access tool which allows to edit collected methods, build your own optimized protocols and share them with your colleagues online.
