Dear all,

as far as I understand the iPhone app, the only way for a task out from the "inbox" parent is assigning it to an existing project which is not in the inbox.
(Classifying the task as project does not get it out of the inbox, it is a project in the inbox then).

So in MLO Desktop I created a top-level project called "Projects" so that I can shift tasks on the iPhone to that parent.

However, in the "Outline > Projects" section of MLO 4 Desktop, I now see every project twice: once because it's a project by itself,
and once because it is in the "Projects" project.

How can I shift tasks out of the inbox on the iPhone without a "Projects" project?

Thanks alot,

NiMhurchu

I think there's been a misunderstanding based on the iPhone menus. An item only needs to be a child of the 'Inbox' folder to be considered in the inbox. To move the icon, from it's menu, you can select a different bookmarked task or existing project. But, you can also from any list hit the editing button, select one or more tasks on the left by hitting the circle that now shows up in place of the check box, hit cut or copy, navigate to where you want them in the outline, then hit edit again and paste them there.

The confusion seems to have been a result of only using the task's details page on the iPhone version to change it's parent. There's more than one way. If you have a folder or task or area you frequently move things to, you can bookmark it, and it will appear as an option there above the current projects listed. But there is the copy and past method I described as well.

Thank you!
Copy and pasting helps.
I have tried to use bookmarks on iPhone also, but could not manage to set one.
I went to "All Tasks" (in the outline), checkmarked an entry on the left, used the second button on the bottom and hit "bookmark".
It neither appears in the list of possible parents in the Task Details, nor does it in the "Bookmarks" view.
I tried this with non-project and project tasks, but to no avail.
Are there any special requirements on when a task can be bookmarked, or did I do it wrong?

The way bookmarking works on the iPhone might be a little tricky to get a hang of without guidance. If you're INSIDE of a task, or project, or folder, or anything, THAT's when you can bookmark it. So if you were to hit the right tab of a task with children to go into it, while in that view, bookmarking a task bookmark's the task you're in. Does that make sense?

It's easier on the iPad, you simply select it and hit bookmark. That manner of viewing and manipulation is coming to the iPhone, but for now, that should let you bookmark!

Oh, thank you very much! That indeed did the trick.
