I am getting to the point where I hardly use a computer anymore.

On the road, I use my Android tablet and phone.

I seriously need an Android tablet version of MLO.

Anyone else with me here?

The Android app on a tablet doesn't cut it.

Thoughts?

Aside from the screens not being optimized, it is the same as the
phone version.

I don't see a need to develop a dedicated version until more features
are implemented in the phone version (e.g. Project Encoding!)

So why does the iPhone and the iPad get two different versions?

I think a nice smooth panelled display (like on the iPad) is definitely in order.

So we just got a 10" Nexus and I'm wondering what exactly you are looking for. Admittedly, I haven't used the iPad version. What can the iPad version do that the Android version does NOT do?

Are you mainly talking about improving the home screen? Do others actually *use* the homescreen? Honestly, I only go there for access to settings. From each view I tap the view name to go to another view.

Aside from the homescreen, what space optimizations or features that *wouldn't* be on the phone version would you like to see in a tablet version? (I get that everyone would love Android to have more of the desktop features -- but that's irrelevant for this discussion because we are talking about tablet versus phone).

I second on that.
MLO on iPad looks very smooth ( and two paneled ), but in Android Tablet, it looks like a wide phone application! It looks funny and like an empty application.

When can we expect a tablet version for android?

Hi. I'm expecting at some point to switch to some version of the Samsung Galaxy Note, and I would like to use multiview to display two views and drag/drop between them.

I find the iPad version much less functional than the Android version on either phone or tablet. The info/task editing panel is particularly poor compared to the Android full screen panel.

When in portrait mode the navigation panel is hidden, which is good, but it needs more highlighting when it is in view to indicate which view you are in.

Hopefully some more time can be devoted to this now that he desktop v4 is released.

In my opinion, I don't need separete Android phone and tablet versions. Two separete versions would probably develop much slower than only one for 2 platforms.
But there's an important point in original post - the usage of PCs has been constantly giving way to the usage of mobile devices. I think this process will be increasing. Nowadays, I've started to use android tv stick which is called mini-pc. What it does is allowing you using android in the way you use PC - with mouse and keyboard.
So in short, the developement of devices we use to perform day-to-day work has been increasing fast, and I think MLO has been adopting too slowly. I really hope there will be boost in Android app developement soon. Personally, I've settled my system with use of stars, flags, etc and most of these features are being useless on mobile devices.. Hence, I'm loosing the ability to use MLO on mobile/tablet.
I suppose many won't agree with me and that's fine. But the need of having more sophisticated and skillful mobile app is something that can't be denied.

Thank you, Robert, for separating this into "what is missing from the tablet version" and "what is missing from mobile". I agree to some extent. I do think it is a trade-off, though...most people are willing to pay $10 for an Android app but probably not a whole lot more, or if so, it would be a much smaller market.  I told a friend that I was beginning work on an MLO book and needed to try it on an iPad sometime. She was going to buy it, but then realized it was $20. That's worth it for a power user, but a lot for a casual user. I'm not a marketing person, but I imagine this is a tricky one.

I suppose I could see an argument for making the tablet version more powerful and more expensive. But in that case wouldn't it be better to have the desktop distinction of "standard" and "Pro"?  (And it is kind of too late since Android already has "Pro".)

However, I fully agree that flags are critical to port to mobile platforms in the next go-round. (Star is available now, and Active Starred view syncs its order now. Also have you seen my Android-adapted use model? http://stroyan.net/lisasblog/2012/mylifeorganized/ -- it explains how I got away from Flags using Goals).

Thank you Lisa. To be honest I was going to read it once before, but the length of the text made me put it off for a while :) I'll give it another go, maybe it can help me set up my system in better way.

I must chime in here. Android tablet version would be much more efficient to use with side panels, either the same or similar to the PC version, for editing the fields for selected tasks.
