Hi, can MLO-Windows work on Linux? Maybe using wine?

Thanks!

I would imagine that Windows based software could only work in Linux using Wine or some other Windows emulator. Why not try it out?

Yes, I'm trying it. The installer works OK under wine, but when I try
to run mlo.exe, it won't work.

Thanks!

The impression I've gotten is that getting MLO to run on Linux is not officially supported, so it's hit-and-miss (mostly miss).  You'll need to use WINE or a derivative of WINE (such as CrossOver). Search this mailing list  for "linux"; occasionally someone posts that they got a certain version to work.  A quick scan of the more recent MLO on Linux threads suggests that MLO 3.5.9 will work on Linux, so try that version.

Tried 3.5.9 and works correctly under Wine, but is not compatible with
my .mlo files created under 3.6.x.

Sigh!

Thanks to all anyway. Maybe I'll run a virtual machine with Windows
only to run MLO.

Andrey has been beta testing a 3.6.x version that works just fine in Wine -- that's how I run MLO.  I would assume that this feature will be introduced into the production versions shortly.  In the meantime, why don't you send him a message asking to join the beta group?

If you haven't tried already, I'd try exporting your 3.6.x file to XML and importing the XML file to 3.5.9.

Hi, I'm the same problem. I'm just installed ubuntu and need mlo there. Anyone can send me the installation exe for 3.5.9? I'm a registered user.

Thanks

1) Please try this beta
http://mylifeorganized.net/downloads/files/BetaTesting/mlo-beta.zip

2) You have to install MLO3.5.9 and then replace the original mlo.exe with the mlo_beta.exe (and rename it).

3) Please install MSXML6.

4) Install IE7 (http://netwrkspider.blogspot.nl/2012/05/how-to-install-internet-explorer-on.html)

5) Check weather IE7 is in online mode (Off line mode is not checked and you can browse with IE7)

6) Uncheck the 'use secure connection"

Yay! At last tried to get MLO on my Ubuntu netbook and it works (I used PlayOnLinux to avoid some work).

It even synchronizes!
