Version 3.6.1 won't run in wine. It will install, but then it won't
start. I can see mlo.exe in my process list, but there's no window, no
entry in my dash (I'm using Ubuntu)--nothing.

All previous versions have worked in wine, as far as I know. I
switched back to the latest 3.5 release, and it works. I'm currently
using wine 1.2, but MLO 3.6.1 doesn't work with Wine 1.2 or 1.3. The
problem seems to be with the latest version of MLO.

Anyone have any idea why?

I just discovered MLO and so I'm trying for the first time. I
couldn't get 3.6.1 to work with wine1.2 or wine1.3, and I notice that
mlo.exe grows immediately to 1500 MB of memory usage. I've never used
it before, so there's no huge data file to cause that much memory
usage. I notice that if I launch from command line and ctrl-c a
couple times, that I can eventually get a frame of a window open, but
nothing inside it. It appears that MLO is launching some service that
is making wine nuts.

I've never been able to get it to work properly in Wine, FWIW.

I also have problem with MLO 3.6.1 in Crossover X and XI on OS X 10.7.3.
MLO 3.5.9 worked without problem.

MLO starts but there is no user interface.

Andrey can you do something?

It doesn't work because of the "unicode support" that was put into MLO as of the 3.6.0 version.  Unfortunately, for me (a Linux user) who has used MLO for a long time, this is a serious problem.  While I don't completely understand the problem, I'm happy to offer additional testing and Wine advice if it will help overcome this problem.

I have installed portable ubuntu and win on my windows computer. I am investigating the problem. For some reasons wine does not like one of the system calls. I will let you know if I find a solution.

fixed. will be available as PRIVATE beta soon. If you would like to test this fix for wine please drop me an email and I will add you to the beta google group.
