Radon: An Important Health Concern for Tennessean’s
The time to test your home for Radon is now. The Tennessee Radon program has free test kits to make testing your home even easier. The cooler months of October to March are the best time to test because doors and windows are shut, so the test results are more representative of in-home exposure. Testing is important because radon is a colorless, odorless gas which is undetectable without appropriate testing.

According to the U.S. EPA radon is the number one cause of lung cancer among non-smokers and is the second leading cause of lung cancer overall in the United States. The American Lung Association reports that lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths among women, surpassing even breast cancer since 1987. More than two thirds of lung cancer diagnoses are of people who have never smoked or of former smokers who no longer smoke.
