Wiktionary template 'ety' does not always render correctly

At the beginning of the beer article on wiktionary, the template

{{etyl|ang}}

should render as
Old English bēor

but instead renders as
Old English < class="latinx" > bēor</>.

Here's a simple test case:
mw-zip -c http://en.wiktionary.org/w -o test.zip beer
mw-render -c test.zip -o test.pdf -w rl

This error also appears on the wiktionary article for Earth along with another error in the first translation section where the code

{{trans-see|our planet, third out from the Sun|Earth}}

is rendered as
