Temple University invites applications for the MA in Music, MM in Music History, and PhD in Musicology.
The musicology program offers courses in music history as well as the study of music with approaches from critical theory, ethnomusicology, and the social sciences. Students are also encouraged to take courses in other subfields of music studies as well as in the Klein College of Media and Communication, the dance department, gender studies, and other fields. Faculty and students have pursued a broad range of approaches and repertoires, including 17th-21st century classical music, film music, music and social movements, popular music, and music in Asia.

Fellowships and teaching assistantships for Ph.D. and M.M. students are available on a competitive basis from the university and the department. Research fellowships are also available for later years from the Center for Humanities at Temple. In addition, the department provides some funding for travel to present papers.
