The University of South Carolina School of Music is seeking applicants for an Assistant Professor of Musicology or Ethnomusicology, to begin August 16, 2020.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will build a regional, national, and international reputation of excellence through scholarship and publications; contribute to the diverse curricula for School of Music undergraduate and graduate students through teaching, including the existing Western music history sequence for undergraduate majors, and graduate seminars on specialized topics and/or contemporary issues in musicology/ethnomusicology; mentor and advise masters and doctoral students; and undertake service obligations as assigned.
Qualifications: Earned doctorate in musicology or ethnomusicology by the employment start date, demonstrated potential for excellence in college-level teaching and demonstrated potential for significant contributions in the area of research.
The School of Music vision statement identifies five core values: the pursuit of Excellence; devotion to Student Success; the production of Music Leaders; preparation of the Musician-Educator; and the creation of Diversely Skilled Musicians.
