m.support.thunderbird is really about support for released software, not about partial betas and such.

The more or less official place to ask about what is happening in development builds is http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=29

Betas are released software. You're not using a beta release.

We love beta users, and all testers. We'd love to have more. And we love to support them.

*BUT* when they post here about issues specific to test channel releases (beta, earlybird, etc) they should be directed elsewhere, where they will get better support from people who know what is going on with those channels. And doing so will also avoid confusing "normal" users, who are using mainstream releases which can be as much as 9 months older than what these "asked questions" involve.

Good point, and technically true in the sense that they are intended for public testing. However, but they are "the future" and still not for the mainstream public. And they described as such. So I think in the vocabulary of the general public these are not "released" software. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/channel/

Support questions for Daily, Earlybird, and Beta releases are accepted here.

Perhaps the charter says so (What does it say? Should it be amended?). And apparently (obviously) there are folks here who do post and answer.

But, as we did with official Thunderbird support forums for many years (up until recently that was getsatisfaction), we ask users of these channels to NOT post where the mainstream public posts.

Further, I don't know anyone among the active thunderbird team who visits here frequently. And so, I stand by the statement that anyone posting here about these channels will not be well supported here. This is not the place for first class support for these channels.

Where the mainstream public posts is support.mozilla.org. The only
reason this newsgroup has not been shut down is because there are people
specifically looking for a newsgroup or mailing list for support. Same
goes for testing channels, regardless if they were pointed to somewhere
other than support.mozilla.org.

That doesn't mean it's okay to report bugs here or give feedback. It
just means that if someone needs help using Thunderbird and they're on a
testing channel, asking here is allowed. They're not going to be denied
support and told to post somewhere else.

And you don't need someone on the Thunderbird team to help users on
those channels.
