Why do complainers fail to describe the reason for their complaint?
FWIW, I haven't noticed Firefox getting "worse with each new version" so
I have no idea what you're referring to.

Not the original poster but printing still sucks after all these new
releases. Fix that and I for one would be happier!

Print support has always been poor, it seems to be a very difficult
issue to fix. It was poor way before Firefox came on the seen, its a
Mozilla problem.
Personally, printing from a browser is a total non issue for me, and
probably is so for a lot of people. However, if printing from a browser
is really important in your usage, Firefox is probably not the browser
for you.
If you have any insight as to how to fix the problem, i am sure the
developers would love to hear it.

i have - there's more spam, more people making inane statements without
facts, more fud about virus's, malware, etc.,
i suppose the next release will be even worse - they'll be more details
about the financial crisis, and god knows what other depressing stuff.
i say to firefox, lift your bloody game or i'm going back to talking
over the back door fence....
To whomever Ron is replying to I would suggest installing the "Launchy"
extension https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/81 (if on Windows)
Additional details and suggestions on my page for setting up Launchy
http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/firefox/firefox.htm
Without you even making a launchy.xml file, it will pick up IE, so
you can switch to the same page and print from IE, and you can do
a lot more with Launchy as well.

HTH,
David McRitchie, extensions I use are briefly documented on my site
Firefox Custom: http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/firefox/firefox.htm
I print technical pages from the web and they are from 5-20 pages and
sometimes it just prints 10 blank pages. I then copy the link to IE and hit
print and off it goes. I don't know how to fix it I just know and many other
people know that it sucks and has for quite sometime and they keep rolling
out new editons and the printing never gets better.

I hope these suggestions help. I have printed many pages and never had
a problem with FF printing.

In Firefox there is File/Print and File/page setup, but no "File/Print
setup" that I can see ......
How does 'print colors and backgrounds' solve the blank pages and other
problems the OP asked about?
--- Original Message ---
Because if the background is white and the text is white or similar combo.

I've not seen printing problems here, but I'm using linux (where FF just
creates postscript output and tosses it off to the print spooler to
handle). Perhaps this is a platform-specific issue?

In what manner is Firefox (a web browser) responsible for spam (email),
viruses, malware &etc?
I use an email program (Thunderbird) for email so there no spam in
Firefox. I use linux, and thus haven't had problems with malware or
viruses arriving via the web. There is an awful lot of crap out there,
trying to run scripts and flash objects and pop-up windows and such
like, but Firefox's extensibility allow me to use add-ons (e.g.
NoScript, FlashBlock, AdBlock, etc) to minimize these annoyances, which
after all, are not in any way caused by Firefox or Mozilla.

I think he was being sarcastic!
he was ;-)
Vague complaining. FF is improving release by release for me.
Make sure you are using Proportional Font as most web pages are designed
as such or let the website set the font. Also, check 'Shrink to Fit
Page Width" in the print options. I have not had printing problems, nor
my friends, in ages.
There is one nag for in that the Bookmarks menu can't be sorted by
right-mouse click. One has to go to 'Organize Bookmarks' -> 'Bookmark
Menu' then right-click and sort. "History is a mess" is vague...The
History menu is to the left of the Bookmarks menu so how is this
"mixing" things? The History menu is sorted by newest first. To sort
other ways you have to open its window by selecting "Show All History".
What bar? Icon bar? If so, right-click to customize.
I have no problem with it. I agree that manage bookmarks lacks
consistency in how things are done, but then it has always done so. I
LIKE the 'awesome bar'. I have some reservations about how history is
managed, and sqlite needs to do its thing faster. Still, the facility
is better in some ways, and other features continue to improve. I think
most of the gripes are related to people who just don't like anything
changing.

If it is so bad for you why are you still using it.
I'll go along with that, except for the handling of the html bookmark file
which sucks badly. It also takes longer to start and stop now, but that's
pretty minor.

If he had any brains, he'd take them out and play with them.
You can export the bookmarks to an HTML anytime you want.
If it is just to look at bookmarks that you are interested in there is
even at least one extension that can be used directly, three columns
so probably not of as much interest to either of us as HTML but a
good example. "MyBookmarks" https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/7748
The changes to bookmarks into a database has provided much faster
access to bookmarks.
1) ability to sort all of your bookmarks (8,000 bookmarks) in under 1 sec.,
with "Sort Places" extension specifically written for Firefox 3.
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/9275
2) the features in the Smart Location Bar ("AwesomeBar") described
that allow you to pull up bookmarks with some strings that are
found in the url, the title, or tags as described in the Beltzner video.
http://digg.com/software/What_s_new_in_Firefox_3_Check_out_this_demo
3) now that the structure is in place, work can continue on other
things concerning bookmarks that could not be introduced at the
same time. Expect to see ability to use same bookmarks between
different Firefox profiles but it will be builtin to Firefox not extensions
or other applications. Follow new developments right along with
Firefox developers it you wish, Firefoxdevelopment can be seen by
everyone.
