Currently telemetry is enabled by default on the nightly and aurora
prerelease channels and is disabled by default on beta and release. We
intend to change the Firefox privacy policy and enable telemetry by
default on the beta channel.

In addition, we intend to clarify in the Firefox privacy policy that
having telemetry enabled may also expose users to UI alterations such as
experimental features or A/B variation testing. Data collected from
experiments is covered by the Firefox usage statistics (telemetry)
privacy policy. Users will have the ability to disable particular
experiments via the Firefox addon manager or disable all experiments by
turning off telemetry in preferences.

As part of the transition, we will be re-showing the "data choices"
notice to Firefox users on the beta channel.

This project is covered by a combination of the following bugs:

*

bug 929091 (enable telemetry by default on the beta channel) and its
dependencies

*

bug 973990 (telemetry experiments v1 metabug) and its dependencies

Please direct any questions or concerns to the mozilla.dev.privacy list.
