Hi,

We forgot to warn you when it landed in 2.5 a few days ago, but App name
for both old and new homescreen apps on Firefox OS have been updated
without a new ID: https://hg.mozilla.org/gaia-l10n/en-US/rev/0135f99a680c

As you know, we can’t update entity name in manifest files, so this
change won’t be displayed on your dashboard.

Please check your translations in apps/homescreen/manifest.properties
and apps/verticalhome/manifest.properties and make sure they are
matching the new en-US strings.

Those strings are displayed in Settings > Home Screens > Change Home
Screen https://i.imgur.com/q8FLWIg.png so they are quite visible and the
information old/legacy is critical to let the user recognize each home
screen.

Cheers,
Théo

Hi Theo.

Thank you you remembered. I see this happening quite frequently, but
understand the reasons. Wouldn't be possible to create some kind of list of
strings updated without ID change? To add something to the sign-of
dashboard, where every locale could track those strings and mark them as
checked? Maybe before sign-off the localizer can be also warned about
unchecked strings for their language, if any.

Cheers,

Hi Michal,

Yes, we have that list on Transvision:
https://transvision.mozfr.org/gaia/#changed_english
We’ll also add a new test case to make sure QA is checking those strings
during locRun and file bugs if strings have not been updated (for the
locales that will be tested).

Cheers,
Théo
