Hi guys and happy new year!

To start the new year, here is a new version of Transvision. Since we
made significant changes to the codebase and also moved today to a new
server, we decided to bump the version number from 3.10 to 4.0.

Here are the release notes:
https://transvision.mozfr.org/news/#v4.0

The most visible new feature for localizers is probably the search
suggestions that get proposed when you start typing in the search field.
That should make searching for existing strings faster and safer as it
will avoid typos.

Since we have moved to a new server and OS, if you see any bug caused by
this migration that we would have missed, don't hesitate to open an
issue in our issue tracker on GitHub
(https://github.com/mozfr/transvision/issues).

Cheers

Hi Pascal, rest,

With the recent move Verbatim -> Pontoon, we lost the ability to
download whole projects for offline use (see Pontoon bugs
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1219212 and
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1228718 ).

This also affects the translation memory collection done by Softcatala
(https://www.softcatala.org/recursos/memories.html), which was indexing
the projects in Verbatim untill it was closed.

So my feature request for Transvision would be to include in Transvision
the projects which were migrated to Pontoon.

Is there a reason for not having included them already?

Basically all those project are using .po files, which are not supported
by Transvision now, am I right? So this would require add support for a
new file format.

yes, and there are also UX challenges as to how to present search
results in a way that is useful and doesn't render the tool less useful
for the current users and more complex to maintain for the developpers.
Transvision UX is based on a key/value presentation of results that maps
to repositories, that's not how gettext works, there are no meaningful
keys and everything is usually stacked in a single file without context
indicated by keys or file paths. Hard to build a UI arounr that which is
compatible with our current UI.

The UX work is probably a bigger blocker than the extraction of strings
(as long as they are in a repository of course). Note that if somebody
wants to work on it, he is welcome :)

I do want to help Pontoon team with one design, so maybe will have time
to thing about this in a week or two.

Is there any bug/GH issue filed for this already?

Hi Jordi,

This has been fixed for Verbatim projects. Actually any Pontoon
project with multiple files is now downloaded as ZIP of all files.

With the exception of the following, which will be added in the next iteration:
- Firefox & Friends
- Firefox OS
- Mozilla.org
- Engagement
