New project: EU Copyright campaign 2017

New project enabled in Pontoon: EU Copyright campaign

In 2017, Mozilla will engage again on the copyright reform in the EU.
Except this time, the website will have a proper l10n support (same
process and infrastructure as donate.mozilla.org). I’ve enabled most of
the EU locales, but if your locale is relevant in Europe and you want to
localize the website, please request the project through the +REQUEST
button in Pontoon and I’ll enable it for you.

The website is being built, but the content is stable so I’ve exposed
most of the strings (~30). I will update this thread as soon as the
staging website is live, so you can check your translations.

I expect a few strings to be added while the website is coded, but not
much. Mainly error messages, and maybe a few strings for the resources page.
Also note that the footer will be slightly updated, that’s why you won’t
see the exact same strings in Pontoon for this part.

I wonder why you've enabled Russian for "EU Copyright campaign 2017"
project? Russia (or any predominantly Russian-speaking country like
Belarus) is not part of EU. I'm not sure that this project is relevant
for these countries,

Hi Alexander,

I relied on [1] to enable locales, and it seems that Russian is a
non-official language spoken by 6% of the people in the EU. But granted
that for most it’s a secondary language, so you’re right that it’s
probably not as relevant as I thought. I’ve disabled Russian, thanks for
checking :)

Hi,

Quick update, there have been a few string changes over the weekend:
- 3 changed
- 2 added
- 4 removed

Mostly capitalization changes (brand guidelines preventing the use of
all-caps navigation links), and string changes for the footer.
I still expect one or two new strings for email validation errors, though.

Also, the resources page will not be localized as we don’t have many
localized resources, and the link will be displayed in the en-* pages only.

Hi,

I’ve just pushed the error strings I was referring in my previous
messages. I’ve also updated two strings: a typo has been fixed (thanks
for spotting it, Tonnes), another confusing string has been fixed in the
footer.
Changes:
- 2 strings changed
- 3 strings added

Content should be pretty stable now.

Also, we now have a staging server where you can check your work:
https://changecopyright-org-staging.herokuapp.com/

Unfortunately, it is down right now because of some major outages with
Heroku and AWS. It’s probably safe to assume that it will be back quickly.
Translations are synced automatically every ~15 minutes, like the
staging site for donate.mozilla.org.

Note that this outage has repercussions on several things right now,
including Pontoon sync, so you will not see new strings appear until
this is fixed, for any project.

Also note that it’s safe to add translations in Pontoon, they will be
committed at the next sync, once everything is back to normal.

Hi everyone,

I’ve exposed a few more strings on the Copyright campaign website.
A new page will be added today:

The page will be displayed after signing up. Note the length constraint
for the tweets, feel free to rephrase to make it fit.

On the main page, the text under the sign up form and the Privacy Policy
link in the footer have changed due to legal requirements.

The site was scheduled for launch today, but as some of you have
noticed, the deadline is now Friday, March 10th

some people made a very good point that this might look a bit fishy/like
a spam. Feel free to completely rephrase to make it look legit.

Pontoon? I don't see anything new there this morning - ga-IE is still
at 100%.

Hi Kevin,

Yes it’s available, I assume you’re looking at the copyright.properties
file, but it’s in a separate file: share.properties. You should be able
to see it here: https://pontoon.mozilla.org/ga-IE/copyright-campaign/
Out of curiosity, where do you see ga-IE at 100%? It’s at 70% for me on
Pontoon

Oops, I see it now (I'm new to Pontoon). I guess the 100% shows for
the individual properties files when one of them is open - it was
just copyright.properties that was at 100%. Thanks!

I would like to ask, if it possible to change the first capitalized letter
here https://pageshot.net/mluAkeKa19dXiChw/changecopyright.org. It does not
work in Czech well. It will be perfectly enough to have is blue and bigger,
but only through one line, not three.

have a patch ready that does that for Czech only.
However, that would be helpful to understand why this does not work for
Czech, so that we can avoid similar issues in the future. And understand
if it’s the only affected locale

Yes, this will work.

The current státě look like each first word on all first three lines
actually starts with M, which is not true. Than it is hard to read it.
