Howdy,

Firefox Affiliates website has been completely redesigned. More than 50% of
strings are already translated for locales that were at 100% before the
update. Enabled are the same locales as with the old site.

NUMBERS

New strings: 80
Fuzzy strings: 50
Deadline: May 15, 2014

PROCESS

We use Pontoon to localize the project. Everybody who logs in can submit
translations. Members of the "localizaion" group on Mozillians can also
approve/remove them and commit to repository.

Pick Affiliates and your locale on https://pontoon.mozillalabs.com/ to
start localizing. You can localize on the page itself by hovering over
localizable elements and double clicking on them. You can switch between
subpages in the top menu that will help you navigate the site.

By clicking on the hamburger menu icon, a list of all strings will open in
the sidebar. Clicking a string reveals a panel with comments, translation
history and also suggestion from translation memory, machine translation
and other locales.

Sidebar also allows you to translate strings that are impossible to
translate in-place (placeables, plurals...) or not detected by Pontoon
(Affiliates website has not been specifically prepared for localization
with Pontoon).

Hi team,

I have one simple question - there are up to 18 different Spanish locales,
which one should we use to translate in? :)

Thank you!

Inma,

Only es should be enabled for Affiliates:

For those of us (I hope I'm not the only one) preferring SVN, do we need
to ask for sync between SVN and Pontoon? Does it happens automatically?
How often?

Besnik,

Thanks for asking this.

I update manually for now, but hourly updates are already set on -dev (
http://pontoon-dev.mozillalabs.com/) instance, which is expected to hit
production in less than 2 weeks.

Please note that http://pontoon-dev.mozillalabs.com/ uses different
database (users, projects, etc.) and is meant for testing purposes only.

Another update,

Release of redesigned Affiliates has moved, so the new l10n deadline is May
20.

All locales that will reach 100% by May 20 will be enabled on release date.
Others will be added later (once they reach 100%).

Hi,

I’m just trying to update the German translation on Pontoon but get

> ("Commit failed (details follow):\nFile or directory 'messages.po' is

> [('Commit failed (details follow):', 160024), ("File or directory

I’d love to „try updating“, but can’t find the appropriate button.

Any help, please?

Thanks

Michael

Thank you guys!

Sorry Michael, that was my fault. There was a formatting issue with one of
the strings and I only upated it in SVN and then forgot to update Pontoon.

Still, "Update from repository" function will be available with the next
Pontoon update.

sq has only one string left to reach 100%:

Smart

Could someone give a bit of context here?

Marcelo,

Thank you for your translations!

When I updated Pontoon from SVN, I realized you forgot to "unfuzzy"
strings, so you have 50 remaining fuzzy strings as shown in the dashboard:
https://l10n.mozilla-community.org/webdashboard/?locale=pt-BR

Pontoon:
https://pontoon.mozillalabs.com/locale/pt-BR/project/affiliates/

This must be related to another string which explains it:

"Smart Banners show visitors slightly different messages depending on their
browser. For example, visitors on an older version of Firefox would be
encouraged to upgrade, while visitors on Internet Explorer would be
encouraged to switch."
