We're about to launch a hardware program to deliver tablets to our
Firefox OS community. One area I expect there will be significant
interest is in reporting issues with websites not displaying properly.
I have two questions for you all. One is quick and easy, I suspect. The
other, probably not.
First, do we expect a site to hand Firefox OS on tablets the same
content it hands Firefox OS on phones?
And second, if we have an influx of site compatibility testers with
mostly up to date Firefox OS (master) builds on tablet hardware, what's
the best way to integrated them into existing compat efforts.

Very cool news.

Not necessary. Some Web sites prefer to send a desktop site to tablets, some a mobile site, some… a tablet site. :) So all cases are out there.
The criteria in terms of Web Compatibility is two folds.
1. Does the Firefox OS tablet receive the same content than other tablets?
(Whatever is that content optimized for)
2. When receiving the "right" content, are there any issues in terms of layout and/or functionalities?

One of the things we're working on is making sure the Tablet UA is
<strike>detectable</strike> sniffable by the major frameworks that
attempt such things. See the middle column at
http://miketaylr.github.io/arewedetectableyet/.
Staying up to date on any tablet UA changes will help us here.
Hopefully that will land tablet users in the right place (with the usual
caveats of possibly landing on an iPad optimized site).

Asa, I know a volunteer who'd like to get involved - how would I nominate someone or help them apply for a tablet?

I hope to be posting the application form soon. Here are a few ways you
can help people get involved.
1. You can help them make a compelling case in the application as soon
as it's up.
2. You can send me an email letting me know that you think this person
would be a big help to Firefox OS (pre-vouch for them, as it were.) This
is especially helpful if the volunteer is new or new-ish and doesn't
have a track record that would be obvious to those of us reviewing
applications. The volunteer will still need to submit the application.
3. You could join me and the couple of others who have offered to help
review applications and have a direct hand in selecting the best
candidates.
Two is probably what you're after :)

As the application for the tablet contribution program are now open, maybe
it would be a good idea carefully think/plan how it affect our efforts. I
have added it as an potential agenda item for the next meeting.
