Version 1.4.16 and 2.0.0 Released

Dear List,

Today i announce two releases of mod-gearman at once. There is a "new" mod-gearman2 release
2.0.0 targeted for Naemon (and maybe nagios4) users.
I also backported all bugfixes and changes into the 1.4.16 release, which works with nagios 3
and icinga 1.

- fixed some potential memory and filedescriptor leaks
- fixed using timeout return code (Scott Sanders)
- fixed running jobs twice when worker hits max-jobs (Tobias Deiminger)
- fixed init script exiting with 0 on errors (Adrián)

Hi Sven,

I tried to install gearman2 onto icinga1 but I don't believe it works. Is gearman2 not designed for that tree?

Is 2.0 strictly for Naigos 4+ or does it work with Nagios 3 as well?

Hi,

that cannot work.
Mod-Gearman(1) is for nagios3 and icinga1.
Mod-Gearman2 is for naemon and nagios4.

The worker is the same, but the mod-gearman2 neb-module is just for naemon and nagios 4.
For nagios 3 and icinga 1 you can continue to use mod-gearman1.x. I backported all new
things.

Hi,

Tried to use mod-gearman2 with Nagios 4.0.8 but I get error when loading it.  Any hint on troubleshooting that?

This is on RHEL 5.9.

nagios.log:

[1420284902] Error: Function nebmodule_init() in module '/usr/lib64/mod_gearman2/mod_gearman2.o' returned an error.  Module will be unloaded.

[1420284902] Event broker module '/usr/lib64/mod_gearman2/mod_gearman2.o' deinitialized successfully.

nagios.cfg:

broker_module=/usr/lib64/mod_gearman2/mod_gearman2.o keyfile=/opt/nagios/etc/gearman-secret server=localhost eventhandler=yes hosts=yes services=yes config=/etc/mod-gearman2/module.conf

 

I use the RPM: mod_gearman2-2.0.0-1

Which logs?

In /var/log/mod_gearman2/ I can only see worker related logs, nothing for the NEB module.
