Hi, I have been using Mnemosyne 1.1.2 for a few years and yesterday downloaded and installed version 2.0. After installing I tried to open the program and got this message:

"Microsoft Visual C++ runtime libary

Runtime errror!

This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an
unusual way. Please contact the application support team for more
information."

I have no idea what to do and am worried that my cards have been lost. Any suggestions anyone?

Thanks
Pete

Correction to above. I've been using version 1.2.2

If you start the program again, do you get the same error?

Can you try uninstalling and reinstalling?

Which Windows version do you have?

If you have Python 2.5 installed on your system, perhaps it's good to remove that too.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the assistance.

Uninstalling and the re-installing version 2.0 worked, no problems now.

I backed up the mnemosyne drive before removing it but when I installed version 2.0 a second time the cards were already there.

I am a little confused though as to how I could have removed mnemosyne and all its components then re-install a fresh copy and have all the data from the cards I'd made previously already retained???

Anyhow. I'm not complaining, just very happy to have all of my study materials back.

Thanks again.

Pete

Uninstall only removes the program, not your data :-)

Please try again with version 2.0.1.

Thanks Peter. I tried one more time after a) uninstalling and b) deleting the few files that were left in the Mnemosyne folder after uninstalling.

As I was previously running 1.2.2 successfully, I think the basic problem comes down to not uninstalling and removing all the files from that install.

Interestingly, as noted by someone else, uninstalling and deleting in this way didn't delete any of my cards! What a relief!

regards
Richard
