Hi Peter,

apparently you've removed one of the features, that I really liked.

> -'(Re)learn sister cards on the same day' is now always set to false

It feels natural to me to review the sister card on the same day. At least I would do it, when not using a software. I'd love to have at least the choice to review sister cards on the same day.

Another thought that comes to my mind is:

In an earlier version you have removed another feature, which is to repeat the same card twice. At least when it is a new card, then this behavior is nice, because I use to do this too, if a card is very difficult.

In my opinion the software should be very close to how someone would normally learn (this is why I started using mnemosyne).

Thank you for your good work!

Best wishes,

Abakus

When it comes to reviewing cards you already memorised (previous grade 2 or
higher) Mnemosyne 2 has always avoided showing sister cards for review on the
same day, even from the very first beta. The reason for this is 'memory
crosstalk': if you've just reviewed a production card, it will be artificially
easier to recall a recognition card as opposed to the situation where those
are not sheduled on the same day.

What has happened in RC2 is that this behaviour now carries over somewhat to
the learing of new cards as well (previous grade 0 or 1). I say 'somewhat',
because if you are running out of new cards to memorise, you will be shown
sisters cards on the same day.

The option '(Re)learn sister cards on the same day' caused lots of confusion
however (see mailing list), because in some situations it would not behave as
how people interpreted this text. So, to avoid confusion, this option was
removed.

Do you really think it's a big deal for you to wait for the next day before
memorising the sister card? The RC2 behaviour (or the pre RC1 default setting)
should lead to stronger memories...

If you still want to start memorising sister cards right away, just restart
the program :-)

Are you referring to showing the same card immediately again during the
memorising process? This was widely considered to be a bug, and I got lots of
reports about this. However, there is a simple way to increase the frequency
of seeing a certain new card. Just decrease 'Hold xx non-memorised cards in
your hand'. If you decrease it all the way to 1, you will even be shown each
card repeatedly before going on the learn the next card.

Thanks again for your comments, I always appreciate hearing about these
things. If other people have comments about all of this, I'd be happy to hear
them too.

Cheers,

Peter

Found a small glitch of some text not being translated in the 'About'
dialog and some of the text above the graphs (retention score, number
of cards sheuduled).
I'v had trouble editing the current card right after changing language
settings.
Other than that it seems to be working good!

Yes, I've seen it.
I have not been able to reproduce that error on my PC.
My problem is that I can't edit close deletion cards when norwegian
language is selected.

This string should be picked up by Launchpad next import into the translation
system. Let me know once you translate it, then I will release RC3.

Fixed, thanks!

Fixed, please refrain from editing cards in the translated program.
