Image helper, beta 2
date: 21.06.12

DESCRIPTION:
I have made an "app" for mnemosyne makes it quicker to name a picture. One image is imported into a canvas and you may put markers and labels on it. The dots may be grouped (se description below). You may also use fields for blocking out an area of a picture. Then code is exported that you may import into mnemosyne.

INSTALLATION:
Extract into "default.db_media" directory on windows located in "C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Mnemosyne\"

HOW TO USE:
1. Open "makePicture.html" or "makePicture.swf"
2. Change the "default.db_media" folder to appropriate filepath.
3. Change the path to the picture and click import (relative to the place where the .swf's are).
4. After adding some dots or labels click export. The html code for the cards are displayed with front and back separated by an tabulator.
5. Copy the text displayed into an text document and import it onto mnemosyne.

Grouping: Dots may be grouped by holding down the ctrl button while clicking on them. The grouped dots are then displayed on the same card.

NOTES:
This only works on mnemosyne 2.x. Tested only on windows, don't know how it will behave on other systems or on mnemojojo. Flash plugin required.

Now released beta 2.2
-Fixed bugs regarding wrong output: Importing image names with different caps not currently supported in mnemosyne, now converting to small caps. Letter : caused problems, now removed.
-Dots center changed a little bit, old cards may need to be recreated to fix the positioning.
-Minor cosmetic changes.

I think the next feature to be implemented is ability to change dot style.

Released beta 2.3
- Images now load faster
- New dot appearance
- You may now add your own picture title displayed as small text under the picture.
- No scr missing error in with the newest Mnemosyne release (use it)
- Other minor fixes.

Due to other priorities there probably won't be any more updates in a long time.. Everything seems to be working fine, and I haven't had any problems with it. If you would like to continue the development, just contact me and i can send you the source.

, see readme for description and deployment.

I'm missing something; I don't know how to get it to work.  I've done the whole thing with a few images, saved the resulting tab-separated texts, and imported them to mnemosyne (which has created cards, but with no images visible).  But is there some special plugin I need for flash?  I can't find any of the old plugins on the website, so I don't know how to get it if there is one.  Regardless, this seems like an extremely useful app!

  Thanks for your time, Chris.

Searching back through the message board, I can find comments that there is a flash plugin that works, but I can find no location for it...

If installing adobe flash player to your standard browser does not work, try the following.

Adobe Flash player install instructions for webkit (mnemosyne uses webkit, an open source browser):

Installing Flash for Other Browsers on WINDOWS

1. Visit the Flash for Other Browsers page (http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/?no_redirect)
2. Select Windows 7/Vista/XP/2008/2003/2000 from the drop down menu
3. Select the radio button that says Flash Player for Windows - Other Browsers
4. Click on Agree and install now
5. Follow the on-screen instructions until Flash is installed

If you have already installed Flash using the method above and are still unable to view Flash content in Mnemosyne, your Flash installation may be corrupt. Please do the following to perform a clean installation of Flash:
1. Click Start > Control Panel
2. In Windows XP, open Add/Remove Programs. In Windows Vista or 7, open Programs and Features.
3. Locate Adobe Flash Player Plugin then select it and select Uninstall.
4. Allow the uninstallation process to complete, then reinstall Flash Player as per the instructions above.

Installing Flash for Other Browsers on MAC

1. Visit the Flash for Other Browsers page
2. Select Macintosh OS X 10.4 - 10.6 from the drop down menu
3. Select the radio button that says Flash Player for Mac OS X
4. Click on Agree and install now
5. Follow the on-screen instructions until Flash is installed
6. Start Steam and test the browser

Installing Flash for Other Browsers on LINUX.
Don't know if it works on Linux, but it probably will. Please let me know.
