If you change a tag from "lesson 1" to "book 1::lesson 1", you can
simply revert the change by editing that tag again, and changing it
back to "lesson 1".

If that does not answer your question, please give more details on
what exactly you have done.

Cheers,

Peter

Peter, are you telling us  there is an option to EDIT a tag on MULTIPLE { that was the question} cards, en masse?
If Yes, how can it be accessed?
     Thank you.

In the card browser, select multiple cards and then right-click.

There are tips which explain this too.

Peter

I am on 2.2a,  windows XP.
I attached  a screen shot of options for the Right click;
there is no EDIT  tag or REPLACE tag option.
      How could that be?
   Thank you, Peter.

Obviously, since many cards could have many different tags, there is no option to edit an individual tag in that case, but you can remove or add a tag to these cards.

If all you want to do is rename an existing tag, just right click on that tag name in the tag tree widget in the left.

Thank for the tip - excellent.  But,
there are groups of cards ( with the same tag ) which I very often need to REPLACE.
  That was my question.
Do I have your OK to request that?

Thanks.

To summarise, you have two options:

* edit a tag. This will result in a change for all the cards having that
tag.
* If you only want to change the tag for a subset of cards, remove it
from those cards and add a new tag.

You never need my permission to open a feature request on Uservoice :-)
This being said, I'm not really inclined to implement this, as I think
the current options are easy enough. Still, if many people vote for
this, I might change my mind.

Cheers,

Peter
