Greetings everyone,

I'm happy to announce the availability of the third Mac OS X installer beta.  This one finally supports 10.6/Snow Leopard.

Please try it out and let me know how it works.

You can grab it from the downloads page:

Cheers,
Patrick

Tried installing it on my MacBook Intel Duo OS 10.6.8

The DMG was not recognised when I transferred it from MacMini by USB drive, so I downloaded from Mnemosysne-project/ directly to the MacBook and it went through all the usual install steps perfectly smoothly. I had set up a Holding Mnemo~1 temporary folder for all of version 1.2.1 app + usr/lib/mnemosyne/backups + everything. That may have been wise ?

Now my style is to wait till after dinner, or breakfast, to read the Version 2 documents and reinstall some decks. In particular I'm hoping to find a brush style font that will render both Japanese and Chinese properly. Mac Chinese Baukai might do it reasonably. By August I'd like a cursive equivalent so that I don't feel like an elementary school boy doing homework, forever. May have to ask on the CJK language lists ?

So Thank You Patrick.

Guys,
I am having some trouble getting version 2.0 to install.

I am running 10.6.9 on a MacBook Pro with an intel processor. I am going from the 1.2.1 to the 2.0.1 version.
I download the .DMG file fine. Even before I attempt the install the icon has a big "X" on it. When clicking on it, I get the message that the application is not supported on this type of Mac.

I was wondering what could be the problem?
Thanks,
-rc

Greetings,

It might be that the version I put together only supports 64-bit Macs.  What is the processor in your machine?  (Apple icon-> About this Mac)

Cheers,
Patrick

My MacBook is 64bit, I believe:  2.2GHz Intel Core Duo.

Hoping that I'll be able to manage video of some description in Mnemo 2.x as the year goes by?  With the converters available it should not be too hard.

My machine processor is "Intel Core Duo" which is 32-bit processor. Is there anything I can do?

Thanks,

Greetings George,

Did you have trouble installing the software on your Macbook?

As far as video goes, right now JPG/GIF support is missing in the Mac version.  I will add it when I have time to figure out how to do so.

RC,

Unfortunately, the one-click installer on the website won't work then.  I just realized I compiled on a 64-bit version of Snow Leopard and I do not have access to a 32-bit machine.

As far as your options, you can try installing from source.  There are instructions in the README file for the Linux version.

I will not be able to provide a 32-bit version for Snow Leopard; however, perhaps there is someone else out there with an older Snow Leopard machine who could give us a build.  It's just (in theory) a couple commands now if you have a fair amount of command line experience...

I had no trouble installing Mnemosyne 2.0.1 - test 2:  it runs and behaves itself.  It was the normal, childishly simple Mac Installation.  Thank you for the effort.

I'm not using JPG / GIFs yet;  but plan to use 4  to 10 second mov clips or any video format that can be linked.  That can wait till New Year, though I wouldn't complain if it worked sooner.  I'm at the stage of acclimating to Chinese by watching 8 minute movies; 15 of them.

I might be able to manage, though painfully slowly, one step at a time.  I was able to run machine code and assembler 25 years ago, for speeding up some primitive basic marine navigation calculations.  But C left me cold.
