Can't import cards from XML file

I tried to import cards from an 1.x XML file, but received the
following error:

"These cards seem to have been imported before. Aborting..."

The cards are not in my deck and don't show up anywhere in the card
browser. They were indeed part of my 1.x deck, and from there
automatically imported when I upgraded to 2.x. But I subsequently
deleted them. Maybe Mnemosyne has a very good memory and thinks they
are still there? ;^)

Another set of cards imported successfully from 1.x XML. Like the
failed import, it too had been imported from 1.x then deleted. That's
probably not relevant, just mentioning it.

Any suggestions for how to get past this barrier? Thanks.
