In this voluntary CMU research study conducted by Kirstin Early, Jessica Hammer, and Jennifer Mankoff, we are studying how undergraduate students are chosen for summer research internships in machine learning and what factors in their resumes lead to acceptance or rejection.

If you participate in this online study you will evaluate an applicant’s resume and answer questions about your assessment of their ability to be a successful research intern. You should evaluate this candidate as if they were applying for a summer internship position in your own lab. You will also be asked to answer some brief demographic questions at the end of the survey.

This survey should take 10-15 minutes to complete. Upon completion of the survey, you will have the option to provide your email address to be entered into a raffle for a $50 Amazon gift card. Your email address will not be linked to your survey responses, so all responses will remain completely confidential.

If you are interested in participating, please go to the following link where you will first be asked to complete a brief online consent form: http://bit.ly/2xdTnk0

If you have questions about this study, please contact Kirstin Early at kea...@cs.cmu.edu.

Thanks,
Kirstin
