BML-Biomed is a symposium to be held as part of the 53rd ESCI annual meeting, and it aims to provide a forum for the presentation and discussion of high quality research addressing the application of Machine Learning and Optimization methods to problems arising in Bioinformatics and Biomedicine. The symposium brings together researchers and practitioners from the areas of biomedicine / clinical investigation and computer science, aiming at providing a pleasant venue for information exchange and discussions of current developments and applications.

BML-Biomed invites contributions on all aspects of the applications of machine learning and bioinformatics methods in biomedicine. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

- Classification methods for biomedical data

- Clustering methods for biomedical data

- Text mining methods for biomedical data

- Computational Systems Biology

- Improving the interpretability of predictive models in biomedicine

- Genome Bioinformatics

- Protein Sequence Analysis

- Protein Structure Prediction

- Protein Function Prediction

- Machine learning for longitudinal biomedical data

- Machine learning for molecular biology data

- Machine learning for biomedical imaging

SUBMISSION:

Abstracts must be original and must not have been published or presented at any other meeting prior to ESCI 2019. Abstracts should not exceed 300 words, must be written in English and can only be submitted using the on-line abstract submission form (link here: https://esci2019.com/abstracts/).

The submissions will be evaluated by the Symposium organizers. Accepted abstracts will be presented orally or as posters, and published in a Special Issue of the European Journal of Clinical Investigation (Book of Abstracts). This journal is ranked in the quartile Q1 in the Web of Science’s Journal Citation report, category Medicine – General and Internal.
