Does iOS have the capability to list all the installed apps into an
editable file using only the iOS device itself? If so, how?

Let's say you wish to send an annotated list of all the apps you have
installed on iOS, from the phone itself, without needing to load the iTunes
abomination on a separate computer (particularly since iTunes is well known
to not work in the real world).

On Android, there are many ways, one of which is you just bring up an app
such as "List My Apps", punch a button to select the list of apps to
include (where you can select all), and then hit "share".

That's it. It should be that easy.

The annotated "sharing" of all your installed apps is automatic to either a
document editor or to messaging or email clients of your choosing.

Not only does the process create the list of apps, but it also generates
the URL to the app installers on the net, and, with another app, the actual
zipped installer files (system apps included, if desired), at any time in
the life of the Android phone.

That is, it doesn't matter _when_ you do this, as you can send to your
friends apps that are no longer available on the net - where this process
works just fine, as long as you have the app anywhere on any system.

Hence, you can literally send all your favorite installed free apps to all
your friends, who can quickly install them on any number of devices any
time they want, where they have the choice of installing the latest app
from the automatically generated URL, or, the older APP from the installer
file you send them.

Can iOS also run such powerful and flexible app-restore & sharing tasks?

While there are many solutions on Android, one, I just tested,
is to mount the Android external sdcard as a drive in Windows.

Once the mobile device is mounted, you can run anything
you want on it to obtain an editable file of the inventory
of all installed apps and their sub versions.

This can also be done on the Android device, all by its itty
bitty self; so this is just an example of doing it from
Windows (somewhat like how iTunes works with iOS devices).

Another way to mount the entire mobile device, so that it acts like a drive
letter on Windows, is to run a free server on Android, where that server
can be FTP, HTTP, SMB (if rooted), or even WebDav as shown below.

This works over WiFi (not USB like the previous method did).
