About six months ago I received the enclosed post in
letter form. I ignored it. I received about five more of

authorities. Even though it claims it is legal it is under the guise of
a mailing list, in actuality it is a chain letter which is quite illegal
and it is a form of a fraud since it involves money.
BTW, the key to the false letter is quite obvious. Since electronic medium
is considerably faster than the postal service by a conservative factor
of 7, therefore, you should receive money in days instead of weeks. This was
not the case. By deductive reasoning it is proven to be fraudulent.

so far has involved the US mail in the sending of the money,
and in part for the solicitaion.)
For anyone who hasn't already figured it out, these pyramid schemes
don't work, except for the people at the top of the pyramid. Because of
the exponential growth of persons involved, people low down on the pyramid
soon find they've run out of people to solicit. (If each level
sends the solicitation to 10 new people, the entire world's population
would have received the letter by the 10th level.)

It seems to me that this pyramid scheme is so old that most people
know by now. People still fall for it?
I was mailed a copy of this from a posting I did on
rec.arts.startrek!! This guy is obsessed! If he is for real, we should
nail him from the highest yardarm there is... (personally, I think he

I presume I'm not the only one who is going to point out that this is a
pyramid scheme, but it bears repeating: the only people who make money on
a pyramid scheme are the people who started it. If you send money to any
of these people you are a fool. If you start your own pyramid scheme with
your name at the #1 position, your are merely a thief.

The USPS definately IS interested. I contacted my local postal
inspector, and they asked me to forward the article to them (which I
did). According to them, it is mailfraud, because the scam uses the
mails for part of its system.
