We must wait for more information. Earlier doubts existed that there wwere places still unfound near Angkor Vat. It is now bearing fruit.

On 6th I am presenting a ppt on Periplus of the Erythraean Sea, in which I am explaining about Socotra an island  now belonging to Yemen which has some extraordinary caves. Thanks to the Belgian Socotra Karst Project (SKP) we are now in the lucky position to have at hand numerous inscriptions left behind by Indian traders while visiting one of the island´s most impressive caves: Hoq Cave at the north-east coast of Socotra. The team of the SKP documented many of the texts and made it accessible to specialists. Several expeditions brought to light more and more inscriptions, the results of the last one in January 2006 are still under research.It has been now found that most of the inscriptions are in brahmi!

Epigraphists like Iravatham Mahadevan have to look at Brahmi
inscriptions
published last year, to see if there are Tamil Brahmi inscriptions in
them.

Beschreibung
Several years ago a group of Belgian speleologists of the Socotra
Karst Project made a spectacular discovery. Deep inside a huge cave on
the island Socotra they came across a large number of inscriptions,
drawings and archaeological objects. As further investigation showed,
they were left by sailors who visited the island between the 1st c. BC
and the 6th c. AD. The majority of the texts is written in the Indian
Brahmī script, but there are also inscriptions in South-Arabian,
Ethiopian, Greek, Palmyrene and Bactrian scripts and languages.
This corpus of nearly 250 texts and drawings thus constitutes one
of the main sources for the investigation of Indian Ocean trade
networks in the first centuries of our era.
The present book is the first comprehensive edition and study of
this material. It comprises contributions by an international group of
scholars who have been working on these new discoveries for a couple
of years (in alphabetical order): Mikhail D. Bukharin (Moscow), Peter
De Geest (Brussels), Hédi Dridi (Neuchâtel), Maria Gorea (Paris),

AUSTRALIAN archaeologist Dr Damian Evans will publish findings in the  Journal of Archaeological Science announcing cutting edge airborne laser technology has uncovered several cities near the Angkor Wat temple complex in Cambodia.

It's believed the cities are between 900 and 1,400 years old and rival the country's modern capital Phnom Penh in size, the Guardian reports. 

Some experts are now reportedly saying the sheer size of the cities indicate that in 1200 AD they were at the centre of the largest empire on earth. 

"Our coverage of the post-Angkorian capitals also provides some fascinating new insights on the 'collapse' of Angkor," Dr Evans told the Guardian.

"There's an idea that somehow the Thais invaded and everyone fled down south - that didn't happen, there are no cities [revealed by the aerial survey] that they fled to. It calls into question the whole notion of an Angkorian collapse."
