Hi All,

At present I am implementing bread crumb for MifosX Ui. I would like know for below scenario what is the correct way to display  navigation

Login user does a client search and click on client, in this case in Client profile what should breadcrumb look like ?

Option 1: Client search >> Client Name
Option 2: Office >> Center >> Group  >> Client Name

Nayan,

If you want the breadcrumb to actually show the 'hierarchy' of the client within the organisation then you would got with option 2. Thats a pretty useful breadcrumb to have although you have the problem that the client might be a member of more than one group.

If you want the breadcrumb to actually show the journey of the user through the application then you would go with option 1. How useful it is i am not sure. As a user I know I can always just go back up to top level search or 'clients search' which should always available to me.

I would agree with Keith in that the breadcrumb is most useful in showing the position overall org hierarchy (in the cases where they're part of two groups or programs - that does pose an interesting problem.

When they're at the client level is it possible to only have the breadcrumb point back to the group they joined first but when they click through to the loan/account level have the breadcrumb reflect the hierarchy of which actual group that loan resides in?

I think we should go simplest first and and just make sure the full hierarchy is there for the main group/program they belong to.

I cc'd Deanna for her to chime in.

Nayan, I think this discussion confuses two things:

Option 2. could be shown in a "Nav Bar" in a cool App (although not all apps have this.. and it depends how to show the "logical" data structure of the app data in a UI - not always obvious ("client might be a member of more than one group"...). More of a nice to have?

Option 1. is "just" the Browser back button! Ctrl-H or long-press on the back button shows that.

<offtopic>How to get Back working in an SPA is another (tech) discussion of course.. personally I've toyed with https://github.com/angular-ui/ui-router in https://github.com/vorburger/MUI.js and think it's great!</offtopic>

Michael,

There have been plans afoot for awhile now about developing an AngularJS app on top of platform that will become the default community app for people to use (as opposed to the current reference app)

Sorry to not reply sooner, I've been hiking Half Dome at Yosemite with my niece visiting from Virginia.

I agree with Option 2.  The breadcrumbs should be a view into the hierarchy, it should NOT be a back button, that reflects history not hierarchy.  The second consideration is it should perhaps follow the existing Mifos construct unless there is a really good way to change it.

Please let me know if there are any other questions or if I've not answered sufficiently.

Thanks,
Deanna

Hello all,
From a MFI prospectus I will go with Option 2: Office >> Center >> Group  >> Client Name
to reach the another client in a same group is more convenient Or to reach the another group in a center.

AMIT

Nayan,

I just wanted to check in to see where we stood on implementation of the full bread crumb trail amongst the office >> center >> group >> client hierarchy.  Currently I only see bread crumbs across a limited number of screens - client and loans belonging to that client I think...

Ed,

At present client and loan profile does not have breadcrumb.Otherwise it is there for other places. The reason for delaying to put it on client profile/loan profile is, I am thinking that the present screen for navigation (Left nav panel > Navigation ) should replace "Client" tab content (or screen).

Just to tryout how Navigation works

Click on Navigation ( On left nav panel)
Click on "HFC" office
Click on "Alam, Noor" loan officer
Click on  "center10" center
Click on  "group10" group
Click on  "client 10"

I will try to finalize Navigation and complete it asap. and then we take the feedback from Deanna and users.
