I have a problem everytime i want to play a movie file, when using windows media player 9

i have a network share between 2 computers, and the movie is stored on the root of the hard drive in a folder called videos. C:\VIDEOS

i get the error message:

The file is in use
This file is currently in use. Close the file, and then try to perform the desired action again.

Error ID = 0x80070005, Remedy ID = 0x00000000

i have checked everything, firewalls (even disabled it) rebooted both systems and still nothing.

i dont get this problem when playing on the computer the file is stored on.

I have even checked http://www.nwlink.com/~zachd/pss/pss.html

but found nothing regarding this problem.

Sounds like you're having file sharing problems between the two systems.
What OSs are those systems?

both systems using windows xp pro, sp1 and all the latest updates, network running over a crossover cable, all services to do with networks running.

it shares broadband and all other files with no problem, play mp3's but cant play video.

Maybe you should let everyone else in on the full context.

I get the exaxt same error message when I try to log onto any live stream
news media on line. I am using XP. I don't have trouble playing movies or
music, just live stream radio.
