Has anyone sourced their own Thing-O-Matic Threaded Z-rod, nut, etc?

If so, can you point me to what you got and where you got them?

Pretty much the last piece to my multi-sourced ToM puzzle.

you can get any z-rod you like, just adjust your machines.xml file accordingly (you want to know the thread pitch, which is threads per mm, which you then convert once you know your steps per rev depending on your microstepping). McMaster Carr sells Acme threaded rod, probably rod/motor couplers too...

for example, in old-style makerbot and mendel threaded z-rods are 8 mm diameter @ 1.25 mm pitch. So @ 200 steps per rev motor at half stepping (this becomes 400 steps per rev) this gives 1.25 mm travel, so you get a value of 320 for "stepspermm" in you machines.xml file.

For a Thing-o-matic I'd probably stick with ACME rod.
Not sure what is spec'd for the ToM but its probably
3/8 inch or 1/2 inch.

For local stuff like that I go to Fastenal but you may
not have one of those around you. McMaster Carr
for online stuffs.

You can get the Z stepper direct from Kysan:

Doesn't come with a cable FYI.

Found that out the hard way...

One more thing,

Kysan has a minimum order of $100 for web orders.
