I'm trying to set up all this software to generate code for a Replicator....I've downloaded and installed both Python and ReplicatorG, but when I try to process GCode, it says it can't find Python.  I've tried reinstalling both programs, but no dice.  Please see the attached screenshot.  Anyone have any ideas?

Have you gone into File->Preferences and hit the "Select Python Intpreter..." button?

Try with a 2.6 Python interpreter as mentioned in the Prerequisites section at http://replicat.org/installation-windows instead of 3.2.

They are significantly different.

Andrew.

Try 32 bit python or perhaps it needs 2.7

I'm having similar trouble also. Using ReplicatorG 37 and Python 2.6.5. Already have Python selected as described above, but ReplicatorG freezes when I try to load an STL file. Obviously this indicates an issue with Skeinforge and/or Python, but I can't figure out where.

I've reinstalled and rebooted several times, tried different Python and Skeinforge versions, still no luck. I'm running Windows 7.

Any suggestions?

When you load the STL into ReplicatorG it freezes? If so, then that has nothing
to do with Python or SF. It's still just ReplicatorG (Java) at that point.
Python doesn't enter the picture until you slice or edit SF profiles. STL
loading & rendering is handled by a Java package known as Java 3D (j3d).

I suspected it might be a java issue. I'm currently running Java 7 Update 7 (64-bit) an Java 3D 1.5.1 (x64). I also tried the 32-bit versions, but ReplicatorG still freezes upon opening any STL file.

I did find that I can open Skeinforge separately, so I think that rules out Python and SF.

When I open ReplicatorG, it runs fine, and I can manual jog the printer, etc. Then I try to load any STL file. I do not get the blue grid/build area in ReplicatorG, instead I only see a black or grey window where it should be then Windows tells me "Java Platform SE binary is not responding"

I'm stumped.

I've seen this happen when loading large gcode files and the java
interpreter running out of ram. I'd wonder if you're java settings
have been overwritten somehow to have too small of a VM size. Check
the output of java while running replicatorg...look at logfiles/etc.

I thought it might have something to do with file size, but this happens with any STL file, even a simple cube. I'm running 16GB of RAM, so it seems unlikely that's it would run out (unless it doesn't allocate itself very much), but I'll poke around the logfiles.

What would be the best was to view Java's output while running RepG? Is there something in particular I'm looking for?

Somewhere in the groups there is a post about installing the 64bit Java Dev Kit to fix this issue. I havent tried it myself but if I remember right, the OP said it fixed his issues that were similar to yours.

Thanks for the tip. I'll do some searching for that. I'm already running the 64-bit JDK though, so I'm not too confident...

However, I did some searching and found this page: http://wiki.ultimaker.com/ReplicatorG_troubleshooting

Looks like it prefers 32-bit Java, so I'll go back and try that again. I may have missed something the first time I tried 32-bit.

Maybe the java binary did not get installed in the path

This sounds very possible. Is there a specific spot that it should be in? If not, is this something that reinstalling multiple times would have fixed?

Also, thanks for sticking with me on this, everyone! Hope to have this solved soon...

Quick update: it's fixed!

Turns out we were all wrong. It ended up being a graphic software issue, not a Java issue. I had previously updated drivers, but just today updated a "Graphics Adapter" from Nvidia (not entirely sure how this is different from my driver, but oh well). This finally cleared up the problem and I am now running smoothly and as expected.

Thanks again for the suggestions everyone!

Hey which Graphics Adapter did you download to fix your problem? I'm having the same issue where it wants me to redownload python even though I have multiple times and tried both versions
