I’m sure Doug will provide a complete report when his cheeks are again pink. Unfortunately, the return was rough for many on board.

Highlights of the day include:

5 skuas, one clearly a Great and one clearly a S Polar, others more distant.
15+ Pomarine Jaegers for the day, a typical count.
plenty of Great Shearwaters, handful of Sooty’s, 1 Manx.
Great views of Lech’s Storm-Petrel.
Phalaropes notably sparse, <5.

Thanks to Brian (capt) and Zack Klyver (lead naturalist) for their excellent efforts.

Best,

Peter

Excellent, albeit rough at times, trip.  I much appreciate and thank all those associated with Maine Audubon who had a hand in planning and executing the trip.

Hello All,

Indeed, it was an excellent trip. Spectacular really.   Audubon's Annual Fall Pelagic is highly anticipated and always well attended. The link below, to the Acadia Birding Festival Facebook page, familiar to many Maine birders, provides highlights of the most recent Audubon Pelagic trip this past Saturday. Check it out and see what you missed,

Acadia Birding Festival's own Pelagic trip, on the front end of summer, in late May, is on the very same boat with equally impressive results. Don't miss out on the opportunity these two great pelagic trips present to birders. Sign on for either one, or both, in 2015 and immerse yourself in the world of birds that live on the open ocean. For those who have never been, you will, without doubt, add a few birds to your life lists.

Scroll down to the "Annual Fall Pelagic 2014" post.
