Both birds (M & F) seen and photo’d this morning on Harvester Road, off Telos Road, thanks to concise and clear reports from others for the past 2+ months. No drumming, no vocalizations this morning; they simply flew into view out of nowhere, and landed on a spruce stub. Fuzzy photo of them together. Male remained there, frozen in place for 12 minutes, after female flew a short distance and disappeared. Returned to truck to get scope for digi-scope shot, but they holed up for 45 minutes, without showing themselves.
Dipped completely on the Woodpeckers the afternoon before. My sense is that at this point, one needs to be very patient. They apparently go through long periods of inactivity, or concealment, or both.
Meanwhile, an interaction between 2 Blk Backed Woodpeckers was taking place 200 yards to the West.
Other birds there included a Sharpie, Gray Jays, silent WTSparrows, a Nashville Warbler w/ a complete rusty cap, fly-over WWCrossbills, and a singing OS Fly. Otherwise, pretty quiet in that area.
