We are new beekeepers who lost our first hive over winter. We've installed a new package of bees and will be doing our first inspection if it ever stops raining.

Our dilemma is, what to do with the frames, mostly full with honey, from last year? We'll eventually add them as this hive gets bigger, but right now they are stacked in our garage and ready to make a big mess when warmer weather hits. Help!

Thank you!
Wendy

I would have given them to the package as soon as possible.
They could use the help, actually.
You are fortunate to have the frames with the stores available.
Use them now to help the package build up as quickly as possible.

We installed them in a single box/super with frames that had honey in them, but didn't think it would be good to give them immediate access to the additional supers we'd added last year.

So right now, those supers/frames are sitting in my garage. We were going to add them eventually, but in the mean time I'm worried about a melty ant mess.

Keep them in a cool basement?

Deep freeze if you have space.
