Hi,

My name is Julien De Bona. I'm a Debian user and a Gdium owner. In
order to get the upcoming Debian Wheezy running on my Gdium, I looked at
loongson-community kernel as it seems the best place to get a kernel
despite the low activity about the Gdium, which made the Gdium support
disappear over time. I'm working on restoring this support as I can
(I'm a beginner in kernel development). I currently have a few patches,
the most noticeable being the restoration of the framebuffer console.

Can someone indicate me how you prefer me to submit these patches for
review and inclusion in the loongson-community repository?

Regards

The fact that these patches live in a loongson-community repository
seems like a large failing to me.

If the patches are useful, please send them to
linux...@linux-mips.org for inclusion upstream.

Pushing the patches to upstream is the maintainer's work as documented in:
http://dev.lemote.com/trac/linux-loongson-community

(Sorry I have been slacking for some time.)

If the patches are useful, please send them to
linux...@linux-mips.org for inclusion upstream.

The patches should at least be cc'ed to proper upstream mailing list.
I am not sure if other maintainers have the expertise in all area.
At least I don't. :)
We should make sure the patches could find proper reviewers.

(Sorry for the duplicate.   I wrongly assumed that the second one, sent 1 day before, had been blocked; the explanation message seems to be undergoing the same problem).

I have a trivial one that should be relevant for linux-mips in general.  I had a quick look at the linux-mips kernel, and I saw a few Gdium references, but this kernel has no Gdium support (no mention on the wiki, no configuration options, no fixups for PCI or whatsoever).  So I'll submit patches here for the loongson-community kernel, and copy linux-mips when appropriate.  Maybe I can help later to identify what to migrate, but the current challenge of porting the old drivers is already big enough for my available time.

Regards, Julien De Bona
