Hi all,
The company I work for (Quantel) is looking for a permanent Scala developer (or a good Java developer willing to embrace Scala and functional programming) to join their R&D department in Newbury (Berkshire, UK). Quantel builds high end solutions for broadcasters and post-production studios. Our clients include the BBC, ESPN, and our software and hardware have been used to edit many many movies.
We are building a new media processing framework entirely in Scala and are looking for a talented engineer to join the team. We are looking for people who can work fairly independently and are really excited at the idea of solving hard problems. You don't have to be familiar with broadcast standards but some familiarity with MXF or MPEG2 would be a plus. Most of all, we are looking for people who embrace learning new techniques and concepts and are not afraid of venturing outside of their comfort zone.
Stack wise, we use Scala 2.10 with Akka and are quite keen on testing (ScalaTest, ScalaCheck).
Quantel is a nice place to work, you get to meet people designing clever hardware, clever software and we even have our own 3D cinema.
Ping me if you are interested.
Guillaume.
