Hello all,

I'm still keeping 31 August free during the day for some sewing - and we have a working machine (the Brother). I'll also have a go at fixing the little purple one, in case that's easily done.

I was thinking of doing it like last time, essentially as a drop-in, from say 11am to 5pm, in the classroom. It would be good to know who's planning to come, so that I have an idea of numbers, and also of what projects you're working on - so could you drop me a line if you're likely to be there?

I'll be spending the day resizing a pattern for a 1950s tea dress, so if you're interested in pattern alteration/pattern drafting, we could talk about that as well as the actual sewing bit. Whatever works best for the people that want to come along, really!

Is this still going ahead?

Just asking because I'm quite keen to learn some basic machine sewing skills!

It is if we can get more people. If anyone wanting to come along could answer here then that would be great.

Just to give you a heads up. I was in the space making some curtains on Wednesday and the bobbin holder in the Brother machine stopped functioning.

I'm going back this evening to try and fix it.

I'll keep you posted,

Anthony.

Thanks to all who have replied so far. Last time we did this, something like 15-20 people said they were interested or coming, of whom 3 or 4 actually turned up - we had fun and it was a good day, but on 31 August I don't want to spend all day waiting around the space for people who may or may not be coming. I reckon we need 4 or 5 people who are definitely interested to make it worth doing this, so can everyone who's definitely coming let me know, say by Tuesday 27? So far, there seem to be three maybes and one extra pair of hands offered, and if it stays that way, I'll have to cancel, as on past form that means we won't have enough people to make it worth doing. On the other hand, if the maybes confirm, and one or two more people will definitely join them, then we can go ahead.

Hope that makes sense!
Katie

I'm definitely attending. I'll also be bringing a sewing machine I need to learn how to use - an Elna Carina.

Many thanks

Great - so there's Ian and Charles for definite, so we need two or three more people to make it worth running this.

James - sorry if I'm being dense, but you're saying that either you or someone else will be there, so could you get the mystery other person to let me know whether or not they're coming? I'm also not sure from this whether you are definitely coming, or whether it's only a maybe, so when you know for sure, could you let me know?

So there's three of us - Ian, Charles and Claire. It seems a little silly to hang around all day at the Hackspace if there's a particular time that would suit us all, so let me know what you'd like to make or do, and what time's best. If all you need is a quick how-to-use-a-sewing-machine session, that only needs half an hour or so, but if you want to make or alter something, that would need a few hours, probably. Let me know what time suits best, and I'll start the bidding by saying that if we don't need all day, how about meeting up from lunchtime sometime?

Many thanks for agreeing to do this even though the numbers are less than expected

Starting at about 1pm would suit me very well

I'm not planning to make anything specific - just some general tips on how to use a sewing machine

Just after 1 would be great for Charles and me too.

Thank you (and mine is rescaling a pattern!).

And Me?  I've mailed quite a bit but wouldn't be surprised if google/ list noise/ whatever ate it.
I also edited the wiki in the hope of drumming up more support.

thats me!

Thank you so much for showing me how to alter the pattern!

It was so much fun and Megan is lovely too. We must do this more often....
