Did you mean "panci" or "sumne"? I think "panci" is better, since it has a
place for both the object and its smell.

There is a major problem here, which is that "sumne" is something
that senses by smelling, not something that gives off a smell.
Something that gives off a smell is a se sumne (which is perceived by
something) or a se panci (which has a quality).

I'd be more inclined to write
lo rozgu poi se cmene lo drata [A rose which is called by another
name] cu se panci lo titla [has the scent of a sweet thing].
And to be even more precise, I'd say:
lo rozgu poi da'i se cmene lo cnino cu stodi lo ka se panci lo
titla [a rose which is hypothetically named something new continues to
have the quality of smelling sweet]
